Election Day 2009 has come and gone. Relatively speaking, this election was as insignificant as any off-year election is, as opposed to a mid-term election, but it still could have been an important year for the Libertarian Party, if we had simply bothered to show up.

In some ongoing discussions here on NV, some of us have been talking about whether our economic system is actually capitalism or an evolved form of mercantilism. One of the key aspects of mercantilism was its focus on 'hard' currency... gold, silver, bullion, etc.

Ellie,
Thanks. I am still not doing any original writing because it is too hot (and humid) to focus enough, but I can sit here at my computer and post some responses to other people... keeping my mouth @!$%# and my opinions completely to myself is not something that I have ever seemed to be able to do. :)
Hi, Rhys. Good to see your name on the boards again (I think I haven't seen you this weekend). I am still sending "cool" thoughts your way. I think of you when I hear the hot Texas forecasts. :)

upswing,
Good catch. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll fix it right away. Rather ironic, isn't that THAT is the word I misspelled, huh? :D
Just a heads-up that you might have one too many "S"s in your "Idiots's Guide ..." Headline.
Please feel free to delete this message upon receipt.

Well heck Rhys, I barely had one friend until last month and I still don't have a comment yet ;)
James, why is it so difficult for people to read and understand my actual words? I do NOT think that money is the root of all EVIL in ANY context and I made NO statement about money being the root of evil in government. What I believe is that money (or love of money for those that need to word it like that) is the root of all CORRUPTION.
Thank you for being the first person to post a comment on my actual page.
On money as the root of evil in government, and I guess you mean life as well. Is it not man and his behavior that has plagued every system of governance devised by people to live under… every system Utopian to Dictatorship has yet to find a cure for what the individual can undo.
